X-men Toilet

I finally caved!! Being in a technology company I’m sure you expected a nerdy blog post at some point! So I stumbled upon this unique creation when I was doing some reading on interesting washroom stories.

An artist on ebay decided to pay homage to (or not…?) the X-men comic series by meticulously decoupaging a toilet with said comics. Armed with an Exacto knife and his imagination, let me repeat: a regular toilet became 100% mutant-collaged. Correct me if I’m wrong but I always thought that vintage comics were worth more unopened and definitely un-cut? As much as I love the X-men franchise, I don’t think it would ever lead to buying, let alone using one of these babies.

Even though the collage has been sealed with five layers of polyurethane, I’m positive not even Professor Xavier’s mind-control would convince me to risk damage just in case. Whoever does decide to install this for use in their home would be providing their guests with bathroom reading material; although I’m not sure if they’d appreciate their mutant business swirling down a vortex of X-men!

The starting bid for the X-men toilet is $400 which I guess is quite reasonable for art (I mean regular toilets retail for approximately $200 plus labour plus creativity…) but I’m still not sure why anyone would spend that much on a toilet they can’t use. Of course you can always use it as a decorative conversation piece but I think if you have to pay $400 for small talk then the art of conversation really has gone down the toilet!
