You only need ONE!

Did you know that every day, over “3,000 tons of paper towel waste is produced in the US alone”*? And in order “to make one tonne of paper towels, 17 trees are cut down and 20,000 gallons of water are consumed?” Pretty terrible isn’t it?

I’ve always considered myself to be an environmentally conscious person. I sort my garbage, recycle my plastics and pop cans, and turn off the lights when I’m not in a room. What I didn’t realize however was how one of my seemingly normal habits would significantly affect the environment.

When I’m out and about and need to wash my hands in a public bathroom, like most people I would dry my hands with the provided paper towels. I’m at LEAST a three sheets paper towel person, and even then my hands don’t always feel dry. When I’d go to dispose the paper towels, inadvertently there would be a Mount Everest of paper towel topping the garbage bins. I was always terrified that my tossed in contribution would be the one to send down the avalanche of refuse all over the floor (seriously though, more people need WANDAs to let staff know about overflowing trash bins).

Luckily, I found this amazing video that has forever changed my hand drying habits. Did you know that you can completely dry your hands with only one sheet of paper towel? Sounds impossible but I can assure you that I tested it out for myself and it worked!

Check out this short video and PLEASE share it.

Here’s the original extended version:

Now my tiny ball of paper towel barely takes up any room in the garbage! If the 12 shakes aren’t enough, it doesn’t hurt to add a couple more. Small changes from individuals will collectively make a significant impact, as long as people are willing to change. So from now on there are no excuses, try it out yourself and you’ll see that you only need one!
